Happy Deepwater Horizon Anniversary

~
We Don't Need No Stinking Laws Against Drilling
In the year since the worst environmental disaster in the nation's history, Congress hasn't adopted any major laws on oil and gas drilling -- despite introducing more than 150 bills to improve the safety and oversight of offshore drilling and holding more than 60 hearings to discuss the spill's causes and consequences with regulators, oil company officials, grieving relatives and Gulf-area fishermen.

BP says,
Happy Anniversary, TransOcean!! Ain't Our Fault.
...See You In Court, mofos!
BP on Wednesday sued the maker of the device that failed to stop last year's calamitous Gulf oil spill and the owner of the rig that exploded, alleging that negligence by both helped cause the disaster...
Filing suit on the anniversary day, of all days? How sweet...

Hi!
We're Big Pigs!
"We deeply regret the lives lost
and the damage caused to your environment
and livelihoods"...but we're gonna keep drillin' anyway!!

The Spill
You may not know this unless you're a Frontline fan - (I'm talking PBS, not Pet Meds here) - and BP isn't frantically raising its hand to make sure you are aware - but in its recent history, as BP took increasingly big risks to find oil and extract it, the company has left behind a trail of mounting problems: one deadly accident after another in addition to the Gulf, disastrous spills, countless safety violations. Each time, BP acknowledged the wider flaws in its culture and promised to do better. The FRONTLINE/ProPublica investigation shows that the rhetoric was empty. From the refineries to the oil fields to the Gulf of Mexico, BP workers understood that profits came first. So what else is new? An excellent program from Frontline, "The Spill", originally aired Oct. 26, 2010, and which you can see here...

After all of BP's inept handling, its continual irresponsibility, the greed of its hidden, unnamed London bankers, after you watch this, ask yourself  "Why is BP still being allowed to drill in the Gulf, or anywhere for that matter??"

President "Change We Can Believe In" Makes Another CWCBI Promise

The Gulf?...Where's that again?...
Oh yeah...I swam there once...

Whatever is necessary??

Mr. President, Welcome to Florida...er, I mean, Louisiana.
Come on in, the Corexit's fine!

About one year too late, you think?
Stick with budgets and numbers, Mr. "CWCBI". It's the only language you can talk, since clearly you ain't got no walk.
