Obama Warns Of 'Massive Layoffs Of Teachers, Police, And Firefighters'

President Obama told Republican and Democrat congressional leaders "We need $50 Billion or else..." (or else, as the headline says, it's the axe...)

This ought to be rather disturbing news. That it is not - to me anyway - is a telling sign of the times. My reaction is not surprise or horror, but chagrin. Actually I have two reactions to this comedy, which is what it really is. (remember, in theater, tragedy and comedy are two masks, two sides of the same coin)

1. What about eliminating some very expensive budget allowances to insure that more important programs like those that fund teachers, police and firefighters are not threatened? Which programs? Oh, well, let's see, how about the DOD budget for starters? Next, how about eliminating the Federal Reserve? I think it has been demonstrated over and over again that we don't need it, and that we are better off without it. There are plenty of others...

2.Here's an idea! Since there is no real money out there anyway - its all fake, remember? Manufactured out of thin air and electronic numbers, no gold or silver or anything really valuable, thanks to the Federal Reserve (and President Nixon in 1972). Therefore there is no debt, only people and institutions angrily demanding payback of something that doesn't really exist. And it was never really "borrowed" in the first place because how could it have been borrowed if it didn't really exist?

Wow, I never realized economics was so simple.

This is real comedy.

Are we laughing yet?
